Shipping and export

We ship wall baskets to retailers and importers worldwide, from a single sample pack to full containers. Here’s how shipping, Incoterms, packing and documents work, and what to check for your market.

Shipping methods

MethodBest forNotes
Air express (courier)Samples and orders up to a few cartonsDoor-to-door with tracking. Can be shipped DDP so the courier collects no duties on delivery.
Air freightMedium orders and urgent restocksAirport-to-airport or door-to-door through a forwarder. Light, nested baskets make air freight cost-efficient.
Sea freight (LCL / FCL)Volume and repeat ordersLowest cost per piece. LCL (shared container) for a few cubic metres, FCL for full containers.

Incoterms we offer

We quote EXW, FOB, CIF, DDP. First-time importers usually choose DDP, which gives one landed price and no surprises at customs. Experienced importers with their own forwarder often prefer FOB.

Export packing

Wall baskets are light but bulky, so packing decides freight cost. We nest baskets by size, largest to smallest, so a carton holds many pieces without crushing. Each stack is wrapped in kraft paper, and cartons are double-walled and labelled with SKUs, quantities and carton numbers that match the packing list. Plastic is kept to a minimum. Private-label orders can be packed per piece or per set for retail or e-commerce.

Documents included

  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list with carton-by-carton contents
  • Certificate of origin (and preferential origin statements where a trade scheme applies)
  • Phytosanitary and/or treatment certificates where your country requires them for plant-fibre products
  • Product information sheet: materials, care, SKU and manufacturer details for your product-safety records

HS code and duties

Basketwork made directly to shape from vegetable plaiting materials is generally classified under HS heading 4602; grass and palm basketwork typically falls under 4602.19. Duty rates depend on your country, the final national tariff code and the origin of the goods. Some markets offer reduced or zero duty for goods from developing countries. Your customs broker confirms the final code. On DDP orders, we handle it for you.

Labelling and honest marketing

Every piece can be labelled with its country of origin, which customs authorities in many countries require on imported goods. Our designs are inspired by Southwest basketry but are not Native American-made, and we label them accordingly. In the US this matters under the Indian Arts and Crafts Act. See the US page.
